I believe that psychotherapy ought to be tailored made in order to meet client’s needs. As a bilingual (English and Spanish) therapist, I mindfully listen to the client’s narrative and accentuate their strengths, passions, interests, and resiliencies in their life. I believe that personal growth, introspection, and change are obtained when there is partnership between the client and clinician. In my work with clients, I use an Integrative approach that combines Relational-Cultural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength-Based approach, and Feminist Therapy that gives me the opportunity to be genuine, emphatic, non-judging, compassionate, and curious.
My professional interests are centered on helping students meet their personal, professional, and academic goals. I am interested in helping students and athletes manage and/or overcome depression and anxiety. I also want to support students who have been subjected to racial/ethnic acculturation issues, intersecting identities, and survivors of sexual assault/trauma.
Groups and Liaison Roles:
I will be facilitating a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction group for this upcoming fall. In addition, I serve as a co-liaison with the Latin@ community on campus. As a bilingual (English, Spanish) therapist, I have the opportunity to provide clinical and outreach/educational services to a diverse group of students.
I received my doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University (Puerto Rico). My doctoral internship was completed at New Mexico State University Counseling Center. In addition, I have a master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Carlos Albizu University (Puerto Rico).
In my free time, I enjoy playing or watching soccer, spending time with friends and family, laughing, dancing, exercising, and watching movies. I also love visiting family and friends in my native Puerto Rico.
