Sleeping More?   Low Energy?   Hibernating?  Feeling Down or Blue?  Harder to Study?   Craving Carbs?

Does this sound familar?  You may have:

Winter Blues or Seasonal Affective Disorder, SAD

Both are caused by gray skies and low sunlight in fall and winter especially in more northern latitudes

Winter Blues is less serious than Seasonal Affective Disorder

Winter Blues affects 10-30% of the population, regardless of race, gender, or culture, and can affect your grades, your job, athletic performance, or your social life.

Self Help Works: *Increase your exposure to daylight, even on cloudy days. *Stress reduction. *Eat and sleep well. *Exercise, especially outside. *Avoide alcohol, a depressant. *Socialize. *Tanning booths don't work.

SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER is REAL DEPRESSION.

SAD needs REAL TREATMENT.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is a serious illness with more severe mood, appetite, sleep, concentration, and energy changes than WINTER BLUES.  Persons with SAD can also feel hopeless, helpless and/or have suicidal feelings.  As with any depression, suicide is a serious risk.  SAD affects performance in all areas of your life.  Get Help.
