Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

Statement on DACA

September 6, 2017

On Tuesday, September 5th, 2017, the Department of Homeland Security issued a memorandum with significant implications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). As staff at The Ohio State University’s Student Life Counseling and Consultation Service (SLCCS), we recognize that this has an impact on a wide range of students including those that are DACA recipients themselves, as well as those that have friends, family, or partners who are affected by this policy change. We want you to know that if you or other students are experiencing distress related to this event, SLCCS is here to provide a safe and confidential environment to discuss this with a counselor. Services are available in both Spanish and English. If support is needed, please contact SLCCS at 614-292-5766, and after-hours press option 2 for immediate assistance to talk to a therapist.
