I approach my work with clients from a solution-focused perspective while utilizing aspects of motivational interviewing, dialectical and cognitive behavioral therapies. My goal in working with students is to connect them with the supports and services they need to continue being successful in the academic career at OSU.
I take a strengths based and collaborative approach to supervision. I also encourage our trainees to explore the value of risk assessment and case management skills to overall behavioral health care.
I have experience in individual and group therapy, as well as case management in community mental health and medical home settings. My professional interests include crisis intervention, gender & sexual identity, family of origin issues, managing chronic mental health concerns, and feminist perspectives surrounding social work. I have interest and experience working with students who are Transgender and am a member/contributor to our Trans Advocacy Team.
Groups and Liaison Roles:
I am a liaison to Columbus area psychiatric hospitals.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies from American University in Washington, D.C. I received my Master’s degree in Women’s Studies and a Master’s of Social Work, both from The Ohio State University.
