Office of Student Life

Palmer Rovins, MA

Therapeutic Style:

My therapeutic style is rooted in a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, where I prioritize creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients. I integrate feminist-multicultural therapy to honor each student’s unique cultural identity and individual experience. Additionally, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help students develop psychological flexibility by fostering mindfulness, acceptance, and aligning their actions with their core values.

Professional Interests:

My therapy hinges on the supporting of LGBTQIA+ folx in the community. My interests include providing support to queer students and advocating for these students through individual counseling, groups, and outreach. I also have interest and experience in providing support to those with concerns related to disordered eating, body image, identity development, and sense of self. Finally, I am interested in ecopsychology, specifically how aspects of nature can be integrated into my work to provide an additional source of resiliency to students.

Educational Background:

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 2019. From here, I obtained my Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP) from Chatham University, where I continued my education. I am currently a Doctor of Counseling Psychology (PsyD) candidate, expected to obtain my PsyD in August 2025.

Personal Interests:

Music has always been an integral aspect of my life. Whether it be going to concerts and festivals, discovering new genres of music, or breaking my bank on my extensive vinyl collection, engaging with music is a value I hold close to my heart. Aside from this, I find that I am most myself when I am connecting with nature, be it hiking, gardening, or simply enjoying a sunrise from my front porch. When I am not outside or engaging with music, I am usually playing with my two cats or exploring new restaurants and experiences within the city.
