Deyavion Washington, Psy.M

Therapeutic style:

I find my therapeutic style to be integrative, understating that each client has different needs that may require a different approach. Utilizing a Black feminist lens, I  incorporate elements of Afrocentrism, Liberation psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Strengths-based therapy. Prioritizing exploration and curiosity, I believe that clients are the experts of their own stories and I serve as a guide to help them process experiences and provide access to resources to optimize success.

Professional interests:

My professional interests include, but are not limited to, diversity and cultural humility issues, women’s issues, educational attainment for people of color, identity development, and racial trauma. I enjoy engaging in outreach and creating mental health programming for different communities and populations of people. I am passionate about culturally affirming interventions that aid in the decolonization of spaces of healing for marginalized communities.

Educational Background:

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a double minor in International Peace and Conflict studies and Leadership studies from The Ohio State University. Currently pursuing my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University.

Personal interests:

I am a food enthusiast, lover of dance and good music, creative writer, painter, adventure seeker, and binge watcher. I absolutely love and adore being with friends and family. Always looking for a good time, I am excited to continue to explore Columbus as a forever Buckeye!
