Women's Resources

Navigating university life can be a challenging journey, especially for female students who often face unique struggles and barriers. From balancing academic demands to combating gender biases and patriarchal stereotypes, women encounter various obstacles that can impact their overall well-being and success. Recognizing the importance of supporting and uplifting female students, the Ohio State University is home to a range of resources and organizations dedicated to addressing their needs. Whether seeking empowerment, advocacy, or community, these resources aim to provide a supportive environment where women can thrive in their academic and personal pursuits.

Mental Health

In addition to our general list of services, Student Life’s Counseling and Consultation Services provides additional services focused for women.

  • Women’s Group: A weekly space for female-identified students to explore shared experiences, connect with others, and both give and receive support. Members are encouraged to share feedback and practice new ways of connecting with others. The group will discuss themes including assertiveness, self-esteem, vulnerability, gender-based violence, relationships, anxiety, depression and other concerns that impact our overall wellbeing.
  • Let’s Talk: Provides drop-in, informal mental health consultations. It's a great option for students who may not need ongoing counseling, but who could benefit from one-on-one support and consultation. You may select to speak with a female identified counselor.
  • Eating Concerns: While eating disorders are complicated medical and psychological issues that affect a wide range of individuals, women may experience these concerns in the context of identity.

Health and Advocacy

  • Wilce Student Health Services: Provides accessible, high-quality health services to support academic success and co-curricular engagement.
  • On Campus Gynecologic Services: Within Student Life’s Wilce Student Health Services.
  • Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio: Planned Parenthood is one of the nation’s leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care, and the nation’s largest provider of sex education. With or without insurance.
  • Sexual Assault: SARNCO provides immediate care to survivors of sexual assault at OhioHealth emergency departments and other local facilities. SARNCO also offers aftercare advocacy and free resources for emotional, social, legal and financial support.
  • Sexual Misconduct and Title IX: Incident reporting and support resources.
  • Parenting: Breaking the cycle of poverty in parenting-student families one degree at a time, ACCESS is an academic and social support program assisting parenting students who are pursuing a college education at The Ohio State University.
  • Student Life’s Center for Belonging and Social Change: Supports woman-identified students across many dimensions of wellness. We support gender equity by promoting intersectional feminist activism and dialogues, developing women’s leadership and celebrating women, past and present, who challenge, motivate and inspire.
