Signs That Counseling Might Be Helpful

Returning home from deployment or service to a college environment produces a unique set of challenges. Often times transitioning to academic life is a process that requires support from others, especially if an individual has concerns that start to interfere with academic success. Examples of transitional concerns that are commonly discussed in counseling include:

  • Difficulty relating to students who don’t share similar values or life experiences
  • Navigating the cultural differences between the military and higher education bureaucracies
  • Difficulty concentrating in the classroom
  • Balancing multiple roles
  • Feeling a sense of purposelessness
  • Feeling misunderstood by others

If interested in services, please call 614-292-5766 and identify yourself as a veteran or military student to directly schedule an appointment with a veteran’s specialist.
